If you are a user of the Internet, it is a given that you must have Anti-Virus software installed on your computer.  Anti-Virus software will keep your computer protected from unwarranted attacked from computer viruses that are frequently found “in the wild” on the Internet.  What’s more, many Anti-Virus software programs can protect your computer from those nasty little parasites, or spyware you computer can be exposed to. 

Another nasty adaptation of spyware called Malware can infect your computer and do serious damage and if you want to protect your computer from such applications you simply must invest in Anti-Virus software. Further, in an effort to understand the necessity of Anti-Virus software, let’s take a look at some of the damage that each of these entities can produce.

Anti-Virus programs will detect any infections you might have on your computer and then help you later remove them.  Essentially an Anti-Virus software application can help you, not only clean viruses you might have, but it can help you prevent your computer from becoming infected in the future.  Many Anti-Virus programs offer real-time protection that will automatically scan your emails and downloads for viruses.

Alternatively, your computer may contract what is referred to as a worm and Anti-Virus applications are made to help eliminate these computer pests.  Worms are particularly dangerous to your computer because these nasty programs are fully capable of working their way into your computer and then sending the program to everyone you have ever had email contact with. Worms vary in the type of damage they can produce and there are so many varieties of worms out in the wild of the Internet that if you don’t have a good Anti-Virus software application, you are pretty much setting yourself up for computer damage in the future.

Anti-Virus programs don’t only protect you from viruses and worms, but they will also protect you from what is referred as the Trojan Horse.  Trojan Horses are just that—they appear to be a gift when really they are not; a Trojan Horse usually seems harmless, but it is fact a file that can expose the computer user to identity theft.  Also, Trojans are known to download updates and some Trojans can completely destroy a computer.  Thus with so many damaging elements on the Internet, all computer users simply must invest in Anti-Virus software to thoroughly protect themselves.  A few dollars spent now on Anti-Virus software can ultimately save a computer user hundreds of dollars down the road.
